Head Coach's Message

I wanted to let everyone know that if you ever want to meet with me, I hold office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 - 10 am (barring any events, illness or child care snafus). Feel free to drop in anytime. If those times don’t work for you, just let me know and we can make other arrangements. If you have something important to talk about, it helps to schedule with me beforehand to ensure I am around and/or not meeting with another member. I’m always happy to meet with members so don’t be shy!

Coach Appreciation Week

May 1-7, 2023

Where would DAM be without our dedicated coaches? Whether it is providing stroke instruction, helping us stay injury free, or just keeping us sane, our coaches are an essential element of our swimming routine and of our organization.

While we encourage our members to regularly thank their coaches, please consider Coach Appreciation Week as an opportunity to let them know how much you value their efforts. Here are some ideas:

  • A card or email telling the coach how their instruction helped you accomplish a goal

  • A gift card for coffee, ice cream, a movie, or other treat

  • Flowers, candy, a book, bottle of wine, or whatever you think your coach may enjoy

  • A massage or spa day

  • A certificate for a weekend getaway or special meal

  • Or a simple fist bump and a “thanks.”

DAM Photos

I recently took over the enviable role of publishing the Monday Message and I would like to make it something you look forward to even more than previously. One of the things I would like to do is highlight DAM swimmers through photos. To do this, I will need your help. Please look through the thousands of pictures you have on your phone and pick out 4-5 of your favorites and email them to me. Everyone loves to see themselves captured in a fabulous photo performing an amazing feat. However, if you look through your photos and don’t find any incredibly amazing photos, then please send me photos of DAM swimmers doing ordinary DAM things.

Be aware that any swimmers featured in your photos will not have the opportunity to deny or grant permission to post the photo in the Monday Message. If you’re uncertain about how your friends might feel about having their picture in the Monday Message, check with them before submitting the photos to me. If you provide the information, I will credit the photographer. The goal here is simply to make the Monday Message more personal, more about our swimmers.

If you have questions, please email me. Hopefully I’ll be able to come up with an answer.

Yours in chlorine,

Pat Q
