Big Day of Fishing

Next Monday, May 8, is the Big Day of Fishing, our largest fundraiser of the year. This is your chance to help DAM remain strong as an organization, and as one of the best Masters swim clubs in the US.

We provide this event to keep dues stable, purchase equipment, maintain Senior Swimmer discounts, support our staff and our social programs, and provide scholarships.

Come to Civic Center Pool next Monday.  We will have laptops set up so you can donate online, or submit cash or check. Sponsorship opportunities for races and zones at Berryessa will also be available. If you want to donate but can't make it on the 8th, you can donate anytime online at the DAM website with our safe, secure PayPal account.

Volunteers will be at Civic (in the Brady Bldg) during each of the regular workouts. In the morning there will be coffee, juice and baked goods. In the evening we will have a happy hour with chips, salsa, guacamole and margaritas (while supplies last!).

Coach Appreciation Week

May 1-7, 2023

It's happening now! Take a minute to let Matt know that you appreciate all that he does for DAM.

Where would DAM be without our dedicated coaches? Whether it is providing stroke instruction, helping us stay injury free, or just keeping us sane, our coaches are an essential element of our swimming routine and of our organization.

While we encourage our members to regularly thank their coaches, please consider Coach Appreciation Week as an opportunity to let them know how much you value their efforts. Here are some ideas:

  • A card or email telling the coach how their instruction helped you accomplish a goal

  • A gift card for coffee, ice cream, a movie, or other treat

  • Flowers, candy, a book, bottle of wine, or whatever you think your coach may enjoy

  • A massage or spa day

  • A certificate for a weekend getaway or special meal

  • Or a simple fist bump and a “thanks.”

Lake Berryessa 39th Open Water Swim

Volunteers needed! See the signup sheet on the window at Civic. This is a big event and we need over 100 volunteers to make it the big success it has always been. Even if you've never done it before, sign up and show up. Someone will help you figure out what you're supposed to do and it's a fun day. Swimmers come from all over, and are happy to participate in one of the best open water swims in NorCal.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 3. Please go to the DAM website, damfast.org, and follow the links for more information and to register for a job and time slot, or sign up at Civic.

We especially need people to fill our water safety crew. You will need a kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard and you should be comfortable navigating out on the lake. We can accommodate you if you want to do one of the swims.

Friends and family are welcome to volunteer.

If you have questions contact Kathy Gill.

Thanks,

Kathy
