Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim

Head Coach's Message

As the summer approaches, we are gearing up for some great open water swim competitions. Open water swimming can be a fun adventure and a nice way to mix up your swimming routine.  If you are thinking about doing an open water swim, it is important to know that it’s a little different than swimming in a pool. It requires more planning, possibly some different gear, and some tweaks to your stroke technique. We will practice all of this at our workouts but if you want more information check out this awesome video I found: 10 Things to Know Before Open Water Swimming. Give it a watch! It’s full of important info on how to prepare for your next swim. Even if you’re a seasoned open water swimmer, you will learn something!

If you are curious about doing an open water swim, check out the Lake Berryessa Swim in a couple of weeks. You can choose between a 1 or 2 mile swim (or do both). With all the rain we got over the winter, the lake is going to be beautiful. Get outside your comfort zone and give it a try! If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me.

Start        11:30-12:30

Unloading the truck at Civic pool at about 4:00.
