    CEO/Head Coach Message

It's such a fun time of year to be a DAM swimmer.

After an incredible Big Day of Giving, now we get to shift gears and do some awesome things together.

First up is Berryessa. This is one of my favorite events of the year, and it's a chance to challenge yourself and support the team at the same time. Registration closes June 2nd. You can sign up for the 1-mile, the 2-mile, or both. If swimming isn't your thing, we still need volunteers in some key roles—don't sit this one out. Details below.

After Berryessa, we have our Adult Learn-to-Swim program—one of the most meaningful things we do as a club. Eight lessons for $50. If you know someone who needs to learn how to swim, send them our way. Registration is live on the DAM website.

And don't think I forgot about the Brute Squad party—this Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Brady Building. Coffee, croissants, and your caps. If you completed any version of the Brute Squad—or if you supported someone by counting laps or timing—you're invited. Please RSVP so we know how many croissants to grab. Details below.

Lots to look forward to—it's going to be another awesome summer!

    Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim

Are you one of those people who waits until the last minute to sign up for things? This is your moment—registration closes one week from today. No more deliberating. Click HERE to register!

Still on the fence about open water swimming? Here's the thing: if you can swim a one-hour workout, you can absolutely do this. Conditions are shaping up to be near-perfect, and you'll be out there with over a hundred of your closest DAM friends. It's a good time.

Can't swim it? Come be part of the crew. We still need volunteers for parking, awards, water safety, and site clean-up—and there's even free camping Friday night if you want to make a weekend of it. If you can't make it up to the lake, we also need help unloading and getting Civic back to normal Saturday afternoon after the event. Click HERE to sign up for a volunteer shift.

Questions about volunteering? Reach out to Julia Waterson at julia_waterson@yahoo.com.

Any other questions? Find Matt or Sean on deck, or email berryessa@damfast.org.

    CEO/Head Coach Message

June 6 is right around the corner, and Lake Berryessa is one of those events that reminds you why DAM is special. We host one of the longest-running open water swims in the country — right in our backyard — and it only happens because our members make it happen.

If you've never done it, this is the year. There's nothing quite like racing in that setting, and the energy on race day is something you have to experience. If open water isn't your thing, we still need you. Volunteers are the backbone of this event — from loading the truck the day before, to setup, to tear down (and everything in between) — every shift matters.

Swim it. Volunteer for it. Do both. Details are below — let's make this the best Berryessa yet.

Big Day of Giving – Raffle Prizes

Thank you again to everyone who participated in this year's Big Day of Giving.

If you won a raffle prize, please pick it up at the office at Civic. If you don't want your prize, no problem — just let us know and we'll include it in an upcoming re-raffle. Stay tuned for details on that soon.

Less than three weeks to go — June 6 at Steele Canyon is coming up fast!

If you haven't registered yet, click HERE to sign up. Not sure if you're ready? If you can get through a one-hour workout, you can finish the 1-mile swim. Beautiful lake, calm water, and perfect pre-summer California weather — it's a great day out.

We also need volunteers to make this event happen:

    • Parking – help guide athletes and spectators on race day

    • Water Safety – critical role keeping swimmers safe on the course

    • Can't make it to the lake? – consider helping load the truck on Friday

This event runs because of our community. However you can help, we appreciate you.

    CEO/Head Coach Message

What a week. The Big Day of Giving is officially in the books, and I am beyond proud of this community — we raised over $35,000. That is an incredible achievement, and it only happens because of the people in this club. Thank you.

If you don't want your prize for any reason, just let us know and we will redraw for another member.

    CEO/Head Coach Message

What a week. Big Day of Giving is in the books, and I honestly could not be more proud of this community.

We set an all-time record — over $34,000 raised, blowing past our $32,000 goal. That's a testament to how much this club means to all of you, and it's going to make a real difference for DAM.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, showed up at Civic on Friday, or spread the word. Every single contribution matters.

But we're not done yet — donations are still open through the end of the day today, and if you haven't gotten in on the raffle yet, tonight is your last chance. We've got some great prizes up for grabs, and the drawing is this Friday. More details below.

    • Donations are accepted year-round, but tonight is the last day to qualify for raffle tickets

    • Raffle drawing is this Friday

    • You do NOT need to be at the workout to win — we'll reach out to all winners directly

And because we hit our goal… Sean and Matt will be suiting up in their silly outfits on Friday. You won't want to miss it.

Thank you again to everyone who made this happen. This is what DAM is all about.

    CEO / Head Coach Message

I want to start by saying thank you. The support we’ve already seen for Big Day of Giving has been incredible, and it says a lot about what this community means to all of us.

Last night at Dos Coyotes was another great example—DAM showed up in a big way. The place was packed, the energy was high, and it was just fun to be around so many people who care about this team. That’s what makes DAM special.

Now we head into the main event.

Big Day of Giving is how we continue building this club—supporting our programs, creating new opportunities, and setting DAM up for the future. If you’ve already donated, thank you. If not, this is the week to jump in.

I’d love to see as many of you as possible at Civic on Friday. It’ll be a fun, high-energy day with music, food, and a lot of great DAM people in one place. Stop by, hang out, and be part of it.

This is what keeps DAM moving forward—and it only works because of this community.

Big Day of Giving — Let’s Build the DAM

We’re officially in BDOG week, and this is our biggest push of the year to support the future of DAM. This year’s theme—Build the DAM—is all about continuing to grow what we’ve built together.

    Our goal: $32,000
Every 25% we hit adds another piece to the coaches’ “punishment ensemble”… so yes, this gets interesting fast.

    Ways to give (all week):

    • Online donations
    • Credit card, check, or cash drop-offs

    New + Featured This Year:

    • Instant Joy Fund — Make coaches dance, change the music, remix workouts, and more (Insta-Famous, Instant Remix, Silly Dance )
    • Future Pool Fund — Helping us take steps toward a long-term facility
    • First 14 sponsors in each category receive a special prize

    Raffle (back and better):

    • Get Stronger — fitness-focused prizes like training and gear
    • Be sure to put your first and last name on every ticket
    • Winners drawn the following week

    Merch Available:
Totes, stickers, and car magnets will be available for purchase.

Main Event — May 1 @ Brady Building
Snacks, music, and a chance to celebrate everything we’re building together.

We still need a few volunteers throughout the morning—if you can help, please sign up.

    Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim

Registration is open—sign up and be part of one of DAM’s biggest events of the year. You can also grab Berryessa gear.

    CEO / Head Coach Message

As the weather warms up, we’re starting to see more new swimmers joining DAM, which is great to see. There’s a lot to learn when you first get started—different coaching styles, terminology, and the general flow of a workout—and it takes a little time to settle in, no matter your experience level.

One of the best parts of this club is how welcoming and supportive our community is. If you have a new swimmer in your lane, a quick introduction, a little guidance, or just a friendly vibe can make a big difference. I remember when I first joined DAM—it took me some time to find the rhythm, and I’ve been around swimming my whole life.

Let’s keep doing what makes this place special and help new swimmers feel right at home from day one.

    CEO/Head Coach Message

We’ve got a big stretch coming up for DAM, and it’s one of my favorite times of the year. Big Day of Giving is right around the corner. This is our biggest annual fundraiser and it’s a chance for all of us to come together and support the club we love. Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim is going down on June 6. And our Adult Learn to Swim program kicks off this summer - one of the most impactful things we do as a club, giving adults the opportunity to learn a life-changing skill at almost no cost.

With all of this happening, we need your help - whether that’s donating, volunteering, swimming, or just spreading the word. DAM is what it is because of this community, and this is the season where that really shows.

Also…special shoutout (and maybe a hug) to everyone who was signed up for the meet last weekend. Unfortunately the heater broke (I guess it's not just us) and the meet was canceled. Tough break, but after watching the rain come down all weekend, there’s a decent chance we all got spared a pretty rough weekend. Oh well...on to the next one.

    Let’s keep the momentum rolling.

Big Day of Giving - Let's Build the DAM

We’re gearing up for Big Day of Giving (May 1) with a full week of events and ways to support the club. This year’s theme: Build the DAM | Every Brick Makes Us Stronger.

    Schedule:

4/27: Fundraiser at Dos Coyotes Border Cafe (4:00 PM–close)
    4/27–5/01: Donation drop-offs + online giving
5/01: Big Day of Giving celebration at Brady Building (snacks, music, fun)

    New this year:

Fund for a future pool facility
Instant Joy Fund (make the coaches dance, change music/workouts, and more)
First 14 sponsors in each category receive a special prize

    Back again:

Raffle (now you can target the prizes you want)
Coach “costume upgrades” as donation goals are hit
All Star Alley—watch the DAM grow with every donation

We also need volunteers on May 1 (2 per hour 6–8 AM, 3 per hour 8–12 PM). Click HERE to sign up to volunteer.

    Questions or sponsorships: fundraising@damfast.org

    Let’s build something big—together.

    Dos Coyotes Fundraiser

Join us for a fun (and easy) way to support DAM! On Monday, April 27, head to Dos Coyotes Border Cafe (South Davis) anytime from 4:00 PM to close.

Bring the event flyer (we’ll have them on deck and send one out via email), and DAM will receive 20% of your bill.

It’s a great chance to grab dinner, connect with teammates, and support the club as we head into Big Day of Giving week.

    Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim

The annual Lake Berryessa Swim will be held at Steele Canyon on June 6, 2026. If you haven’t already, register HERE to swim!

This is a huge undertaking and it would be impossible to host an event of this magnitude without participation and support from our members. We need volunteers to assist with everything from site set-up, check-in, first aid, water safety, packing/unpacking the truck, and many other tasks. A Sign-Up Genius is available HERE for all volunteer spots. Please consider signing up for a shift (there is no limit on number of shifts you can sign up for, provided they do not conflict) and help to make this the best DAM event possible! And if that’s not enough, all volunteers who sign up by May 17th will be guaranteed a free 2026 event T-shirt.

Area coordinators (the point-person for a given area of responsibility) are needed for First Aid, the finish line and awards on race-day, as well as truck loading on Friday before the race at Civic. Contact Kevin Waterson at Berryessa@damfast.org if you are interested in the area coordinator positions. If you can’t make it to the lake, consider helping load/unload at civic the Friday before or on Saturday afternoon after the event.

Still looking for a way to help? Donate money by being an event sponsor. If you have a business to promote, or want your name on our merchandise, please contact Kevin Waterson at berryessa@damfast.org.

However you help, WE APPECIATE YOU!!

    Adult Learn to Swim

Our Adult Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) program is returning this summer, and we are once again looking for volunteer instructors to help adults in our community learn this life-saving skill.

There has been a delay with the filter installation pushing the projected completion date to April 30.

In the meantime, all workouts will continue at our current pool locations. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we’ve worked through these changes, and we’re looking forward to getting back to Arroyo soon!

The sun is back, and open water season is right around the corner.

DAM is proud to host one of the longest-running open water swims in the country, our annual Lake Berryessa Swim, returning to Steele Canyon Resort on June 6, 2026. With high water levels and great conditions expected, it’s shaping up to be an awesome day in a beautiful setting.

There are a few ways to get involved:

    1. Swim it - Take advantage of early registration and sign up today. Click HERE to get signed up!
    2. Volunteer - We’re looking for area coordinators and volunteers to help make the event run smoothly. More info coming soon, or reach out directly.
    3. Sponsor - Promote your business, support the event, and help us create a great experience for 500+ participants. Contact Kevin Waterson at berryessa@damfast.org.

    Merchandise is now available!
Grab your Berryessa gear and represent DAM in style.

Whether you’re swimming, volunteering, or supporting, this is one of the highlights of our year—don’t miss it!

    Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim

It’s been a long winter, but the sun is back and open water swim season is right around the corner! Did you know that DAM hosts one of the longest-running open water events in America? It’s a marquis event for the club, gets us out into a beautiful fresh water lake environment and lets us put all those distance workouts to good use.

The annual Lake Berryessa Swim will again be hosted at Steele Canyon Resort on June 6, 2026. The water levels are relatively high, and conditions are shaping up to be very good. Take this moment to save the date, and please consider helping us out in any (or all) of three ways:

    1. Register for the event! Better yet, take advantage of early registration pricing! Sign up HERE
    2. Donate your time and energy by being a Berryessa volunteer. We are in need of a few area coordinators and each coordinator will be looking for a crew. There will be information coming soon in this weekly email, announcements on deck, or you can contact me directly.
    3. Donate money by being an event sponsor. If you have a business to promote, know someone with a business to promote, want to see your name on our swag, or just want to quietly support, please contact Kevin Waterson at berryessa@damfast.org. Your support goes a long way towards making this event memorable for over 500 participants a year, and helps support our club throughout the entire year.

Big Day of Giving and Berryessa Sponsorships

Preparations are underway for both the Big Day of Giving and the Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim, and we are currently seeking local business support.

You can help support Davis Aquatic Masters if you:

    • own a business
    • know someone who owns a business
    • frequent local businesses that may be interested in supporting DAM

We are looking for event sponsors for the Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim and raffle prize donations for Big Day of Giving.

If you have a connection or would like to help reach out to businesses, please contact Patti Bryant at plynnbryant@gmail.com to learn more.
